Willow Fire & Security returned to this property in Central London to carry out the replacement of a non compliant fuse spur and x2 failed batteries.
Following on from a 6 month service we found that the AOV panel spur was now non compliant and the batteries had failed due to passing the 4 year age.
We replaced all to keep site compliant and fully operational.
-
A red key-operated fused spur is often used as a dedicated mains isolator for an AOV control panel.
-
While not exclusive to BS 5839, the concept of isolation via a secure key switch is borrowed from fire alarm system practices, to:
-
Prevent unauthorised power isolation.
-
Ensure safe maintenance access.
-
Provide a clear means of disconnection in emergencies.
